Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Ltd (METS) is a subsidiary of ZCCM-IH, and its business activities is to provide a wide range of environmental, analytical, radiation safety, and engineering services. METS prides itself on being a multifaceted, full-service company with a strong record in environmental management within Zambia’s mining and mineral processing industry. Its service range includes environmental impact assessments, environmental compliance audits, mineral sample preparation, water supply and sewerage systems design, radiation safety management, and many more. The company operates with a clear vision to lead in providing its specialized services in Zambia, driven by a mission to deliver these services efficiently to maximize shareholder value .  

For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2023, METS reported a total of ZMW 14.63 million in revenue for the year ended 31st December 2023 (2022: ZMW10.61 million restated), and net loss of ZMW6.48 million (2022: profit of ZMW1.01 million restated) The company has been actively seeking to increase third-party business by participating in several bids during the year.

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) generated a total of ZMW 4.93 million in revenue for the year ended 31st December 2022 (2021: ZMW17.11 million). METS reported a net loss of ZMW4.39 million (2021: ZMW2.51 million profit)  

During the period under review, METS continued the implementation of its Strategic Turnaround and Marketing Plan. ZCCM-IH capitalised the company with ZMW45.323 million during the year. Management also made steady efforts to raise capital for equipment and develop non-ZCCM-IH business relationships for the formation of strategic alliances and partnerships in the provision of environmental services.  

There were no dividends declared during the period under review (December 2021: Nil)

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) generated a total of ZMW17.11 million in revenue for the year ended 31st December 2021 (2020: ZMW24.49 million). METS reported a net profit of ZMW2.51 million (2020: ZMW3.12 million). 

During the period under review, METS continued the implementation of its Strategic Turnaround and Marketing Plan. Though the Company remains undercapitalised, METS has maintained profitability over the majority of the 12 months. Management has also made steady efforts to raise capital for equipment and develop non-ZCCM-IH business relationships for the formation of strategic alliances and partnerships in the provision of environmental services.

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) generated a total of ZMW 24.49 million in revenue for the year ended 31st December 2020 (December 2019: ZMW16.27 million). METS reported a net profit of ZMW3.12 million (2019: ZMW2.6 million).  

During the period under review, METS began forming its Strategic Turnaround and Marketing Plan. The Turnaround Plan is intended to address, among other issues, market expansion through the acquisition of new customers, business development and additional services, improvements in the provision of environmental services, and the formation of strategic alliances and partnerships in the provision of environmental services. No dividends were paid during the year under review (2019: Nil).

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) earned a total of ZMW8.8 million (audited) as revenue for the year ended 31 March 2019 (2018: ZMW5.48 million). Of
the revenue, ZMW6.4 million was realised from recurring services to ZCCM-IH (2018: ZMW4.6 million) and ZMW2.4 million was from non ZCCM-IH sources (2018: ZMW0.88 million). METS recorded a net loss of ZMW2.5 million (2018: ZMW1.9 million loss).

METS continued its drive towards increasing third party business by taking part in several bids throughout the year.

METS Extract from 2018 Annual Report

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) earned a total of K5.48 million (unaudited) as revenue for the year ended 31st March 2018 (2017: K8.80 million). Of the revenue, K4.6 million was realised from recurring services to ZCCM-IH (2017: K2.63 million) and K0.88 million was from non ZCCM-IH sources (2017: K6.17 million). METS recorded a net loss of K4.5 million (2017: K1.22 million loss).

During the year under review, ZCCM-IH purchased and installed the Fume and Dust extractors at the Kabwe Analytical Laboratory. The process of Accreditation of the Analytical Laboratory to the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services (SADCAS) begun during the year under review.

METS Extract from 2017 Annual Report

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) earned a total of K8.80 million as revenue for the year ended 31st March 2017 (2016: K6.22 million).

K2.63 million of the total revenue, was realised from recurring services to ZCCM-IH (2016: K5.15 million) and K6.17 million was from non-ZCCM-IH sources (2016: K1.10 million). METS recorded a loss before tax of K1.25 million (2016: K2.90 million loss).

During the year under review, ZCCM-IH advertised for the purchase of Fume extractors and Dust extractors to be installed at the Kabwe Analytical Laboratory. When the remaining works at the laboratory are complete, METS will be in a position to provide more analytical services at the laboratory and increase revenue.
