INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGER – ZAMBIA GOLD COMPANY LTD (Lusaka)

Zambia Gold Company Limited is a Zambian company that oversees the mining, processing, refining and marketing of gold.  Its operations are based in Mwinilunga, North-Western Province.

INTERNAL AUDITOR – MISENGE ENVIRONMENTAL & TECHNICAL SERVICES (Kalulushi)

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Ltd (METS) is a 100% owned subsidiary of ZCCM-IH based in Kalulushi on the Copperbelt. It is a multifaceted full-service company whose core competencies are environmental management, particularly in the mining and mineral processing industry in Zambia.

METS Extract from 2019 Annual Report

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) earned a total of ZMW8.8 million (audited) as revenue for the year ended 31 March 2019 (2018: ZMW5.48 million). Of
the revenue, ZMW6.4 million was realised from recurring services to ZCCM-IH (2018: ZMW4.6 million) and ZMW2.4 million was from non ZCCM-IH sources (2018: ZMW0.88 million). METS recorded a net loss of ZMW2.5 million (2018: ZMW1.9 million loss).

METS continued its drive towards increasing third party business by taking part in several bids throughout the year.

There were no dividends declared during the year under review (2018: Nil).

METS Extract from 2018 Annual Report

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) earned a total of K5.48 million (unaudited) as revenue for the year ended 31st March 2018 (2017: K8.80 million). Of the revenue, K4.6 million was realised from recurring services to ZCCM-IH (2017: K2.63 million) and K0.88 million was from non ZCCM-IH sources (2017: K6.17 million). METS recorded a net loss of K4.5 million (2017: K1.22 million loss).

During the year under review, ZCCM-IH purchased and installed the Fume and Dust extractors at the Kabwe Analytical Laboratory. The process of Accreditation of the Analytical Laboratory to the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services (SADCAS) begun during the year under review.

There were no dividends declared during the year under review (2017: Nil).

METS Extract from 2017 Annual Report

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) earned a total of K8.80 million as revenue for the year ended 31st March 2017 (2016: K6.22 million).

K2.63 million of the total revenue, was realised from recurring services to ZCCM-IH (2016: K5.15 million) and K6.17 million was from non-ZCCM-IH sources (2016: K1.10 million). METS recorded a loss before tax of K1.25 million (2016: K2.90 million loss).

During the year under review, ZCCM-IH advertised for the purchase of Fume extractors and Dust extractors to be installed at the Kabwe Analytical Laboratory. When the remaining works at the laboratory are complete, METS will be in a position to provide more analytical services at the laboratory and increase revenue.

There were no dividends declared during the year under review (2016: Nil).

METS Extract from 2016 Annual Report

Misenge Environmental and Technical Services Limited (METS) earned a total of K6.22 million as revenue for the year ended 31st March 2016 (2015: K6.23 million). METS recorded a loss after tax of K2.9 million (2015: K0.6 million).

METS was awarded a contract as a project management consultant firm during the nine month preparatory stage of the Zambian Mining Environmental Remediation and Improvement Project (ZMERIP). ZMERIP is a World Bank led project whose “objective is to reduce environmental health risks to the local population associated with the mining sector in critically polluted areas in Kabwe and Copperbelt provinces through improved capacity of the key institutions”. This is expected to improve METS’s income base going forward.
