On 14 November 2025, ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc (ZCCM-IH) and the International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR), with support from the Embassy of Sweden, officially launched a strategic ESG partnership aimed at strengthening responsible and sustainable mining across Zambia. Speaking at the event, Swedish Ambassador Johan Hallenborg underscored the central role of mining in Zambia’s economy and emphasised the need to address environmental, social and governance risks to unlock greater investment opportunities. Meanwhile, ZCCM-IH CEO, Mr. Kakenenwa Muyangwa, reaffirmed that the partnership reflects a shared ambition to drive sustainable growth, tackle challenges such as climate change and social inclusion, and ensure Zambia’s mineral wealth delivers long-term value for citizens. The partnership will strengthen ESG governance and reporting, enhance environmental stewardship and climate resilience, improve community wellbeing, safety and inclusion, to promote greater transparency and investor confidence.
